St. Anthony’s back on track with big win over Delbarton

After having a difficult time with two of Pennsylvania’s best teams, Haverford and Episcopal Academy, St Anthony’s hosted New Jersey’s top team, Delbarton.

St. Anthony’s entered the game 1-2, the rough start to the season dropping the Friars down to 26th in the DigitalSports National Lacrosse Rankings and 8th in New York.  Coming in at 5-0, Delbarton ranked 24th in the nation.

After taking the first quarter 2-1, St. Anthony’s quickly solved the Green Wave’s defense in the second, adding five goals to its tally to lead 7-2 by half time.

Another Friar-dominated quarter in the third sent St. Anthony’s into the final stanza with a comfortable 11-2 lead.  Like the first quarter, the fourth went 2-1 for the Friars, leading to the 13-3 dominant victory.

The chemistry within the Friars’ offense was stunning as ten of their goals were assisted.  Brandon Homire netted four goals.  Eamon Campbell added on two more along with four assists and Matt Laviano had a pair of both goals and assists.

Now back at .500, St. Anthony’s prepares to square off against some of its fellow New York teams.  First, the Friars face St. Dominic on April 13 followed by a game at their archrivals, Chaminade, on April 15.
